Plattsburgh Mrs. Veronica M. "Veron" St. Denis-Light, 89, formerly of Route 3, West Plattsburgh and most recently of Lakeview Towers passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on June 8, 1927 the daughter of George "Francis and Mary (Harvey) "Frances" Wells. Veron graduated from Plattsburgh High School Class of 1945. She graduated from the Business School at BOCES and was a graduate of the first class at Miner Institute. Veron married Donald J. St. Denis on June 7, 1947. He predeceased her in 1965. Veron married Robert Light on November 29, 1969. He predeceased her in 1998. She was employed as a service representative at the Social Security Administration retiring in 1987. While living in West Plattsburgh, she was a member of St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville where she was a charter member of the Mothers Club of St. Alexander's School. Veron was a Life Member of the Sorrell-Woodward American Legion Post 1623 Ladies Auxiliary in Lyon Mountain. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing volunteer work. Veron was a member of the Senior Citizens Council, the Red Hatters and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and the Altar Rosary Society of Our Lady of Victory Church. She was predeceased by her first husband Doanld J. St. Denis, her second husband Robert Light, three sisters; Sheila Schneider, Joan Harris, Ida Kathryn Stone and three brothers-in-law; Donald "Don" Stone, Robert "Bob" Collins and Leland "Lee" Buckley. Veron is survived by her son Barton St. Denis and his wife Dianne of Beaverton, Ontario, two step daughters; Cheryl Dodds and her husband Michael of Cadyville, Julie Burkhart of Rochester, NY, Veron's companion Edward "Pete" Webber of Plattsburgh, four brothers; Reginald "Reggie" Wells and his wife Denise of Plattsburgh, Lawrence "Bucky" Wells and his wife Sandra of Melbourne Beach, FL, Charles Wells and his wife Mathilde of Columbus, GA, James "Jimmy" Wells of Melbourne Beach, FL, three sisters; Geraldine Nero of Hudson, NY, Carol Buckley of Plattsburgh, Mary Collins of Columbia, SC; and 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church with the Rev. William G. Reamer as presiding Pastor. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
