Viola May Gagnon

Plattsburgh Mrs. Viola May Gagnon, 92, formerly of Johnson Avenue in Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in Cadyville on November 17, 1921, the daughter of the late Floyd and Alverda (Monty) Jock. Viola worked for Judge Robert S. Long for 9 years and later for 8 years for Judges Feinberg and Goldman and was chief clerk at Clinton County Surrogates Court until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and was a member and former president of the OLVC Altar-Rosary Society, the church choir, a member of the Newcomers Club, the Red Hat Society, the RSVP, the Sweet Adelines, a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and received the Good Neighbor Award. She is survived by two sons Raymond "Foxy" Gagnon, Gary "Goose" Gagnon and companion Theresa Collins of Plattsburgh, a daughter and son in law; Darlene and Paul Pavone of Plattsburgh, her grandchildren; Erin Gagnon and companion James Stiger Sr., Erik and Sarah Gagnon, Jessie Edwards and companion Ryan Palian, Forrest and Gisele Edwards, Christopher Pavone, Jennifer Pavone, Ashley Collins, her great grandchildren; Raenna Viola Stiger, James Stiger, Jr., Jordan Stiger, Ethan and Sophia Gagnon, Demar "Mekhi" and Jasmine Mathis , Alexander E. Edwards , and Mobius Pavone . Her husband, Raymond S. Gagnon, passed away in 1983. Her brother in law and sister in law; Ralphe and Peggy Gagnon also passed away earlier. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
