West Chazy As a beautiful sunrise greeted the new day of June 6, Viola Rivers Manor, 90, of Clark Street, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Beekmantown on May 21, 1918, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Sweenor) Rivers. Viola was a wonderful ray of sunshine who brightened and warmed the hearts of all who knew her. She married the love of her life, Joseph D. Manor on June 28, 1933. For thirty seven years, they worked together on the farm, raising their ten children. On December 31, 1962, with broken hearts, they laid to rest their eleventh child, Carol Lynn Manor, who died at birth. Too soon, Viola was separated from Joseph when he passed away in May of 1970 of cancer. He was only fifty nine years old. Viola spent the rest of her life watching and enjoying the growth of her large family. Her ten children all married and gave her over one hundred grand, great and great-great grandchildren. Viola loved to sit on her front porch and watch the birds, chipmunks, squirrels and her beautiful flowers. She eagerly awaited the arrival of the hummingbirds each spring on Mother's Day. Her home was filled with the crafts and flower arrangements she herself made. She made the best strawberry rhubarb pie and always had a nice smelling candle burning. Most importantly, she made her house on Clark Street a home. It was a home that most people could only dream of; a dream now that will forever be in the hearts of those who loved her so dearly. Viola leaves behind three sons and three daughters in law, Russell and his wife Mary Manor of Santa Cruz, California, Roger and his wife, Irlene of Marengo, Ohio, Robert and his wife Penny Manor of Beekmantown, New York, five daughters and six sons in law, Shirley and her husband Larry Brothers, Patricia and her husband, Elton Stromback, Marjorie and her husband, Ron Poupore, all of West Chazy, New York, Arlene and her husband, Rodney Sterling of Chazy, New York, Linda and her husband Donald Parrott of West Chazy, son in law Leslie Cahill of Delaware, Ohio, a brother, Floyd and his wife, Dorothy Rivers of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida and a special niece, Pauline LaCross of Glens Falls, New York. She had thirty seven grandchildren, fifty seven great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Viola was pre-deceased by her parents, Henry and Mary Rivers, her husband, Joseph Manor, a baby daughter Carol Lynn, her beloved first born child, Joyce Manor Cahill who was laid to rest on February 8, 2007 and her son, Daniel Manor on July 13, 2007. She was also pre-deceased by five brothers, Raymond, Wilfred, Harley, Henry and Albert Rivers, two step brothers, Richard and Leo Rivers, three sisters, Malina LaMoy, Angela Palmer, Clara Brean, two step sisters, Anna and Ella LaCross.
