Virginia R Weir

Clayburg Mrs. Virginia R. Weir, 90, of Flynn Ave. in Plattsburgh and formerly of Clayburg, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Clinton County Nursing Home with family by her side. She was born in Ossining, N.Y. on October 20, 1922, the daughter of the late William and Madeline (Croke) Rowe, Jr. She was a graduate of Ossining High School and attended Russell Sage College. During World War II, she was employed as a reservation clerk at Grand Central Station in New York City to assist soldiers returning home. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, flower and vegetable gardening, music, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Virginia was also an avid Montreal Expos and New York Giants fan. She is survived by her children and their spouses; William and Elaine Incognito of Halliday, N.D., Ellen Neville and her companion Maurice of Rochester, N.Y., Teresa and Bryan Yanulavich of Merrill, Francis and Kim Weir of Ogdensburg, Karen and Michael Clancy of Saranac, Kathleen and Brian Light of Cadyville, Lisa and Steven Brousseau of West Plattsburgh, 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren. 4 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Her husband of over 46 years, Thomas "Andy" Weir passed away in December of 1993. Her first husband, Antonio Incognito was killed in 1944 during the Italian Campaign in World War II, and two sisters; Ellen Dorn and Anne Wickham also passed away earlier. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3 Park Row in Cadyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11:00am at the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the Alzheimers Assistance Center c/o SUNY Plattsburgh. The family wishes to thank the staff at Clinton County Nursing Home for the excellent care given to our mother during her stay.
