Walter A. Miner, 85, of Schuyler Falls, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the UVM Health-Network-CVPH with his family by his side. He was born in Herkimer, NY on October 11, 1937, the son of Edward and Nellie (Daley) Miner.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma, their children; Joseph(Claire), Steven(Jackie), Jeffrey (Deb) and Shannon (Joseph) 9 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, a son Jeffrey, brothers Jim and Ed and a sister Doris.
He served in the U.S. Army as an SFC for 23 1/2 years; 2 of them as a US Army Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and also served in the National Guard and Army Reserve. After retiring from the military, he worked in construction and for his beloved Bluff Point Golf Course.
He was a Master Carver, avid golfer, enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and mowing his lawn. He spent many hours with his family (including the little ones) and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 4;00 to 7;00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Poland, NY at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the staff at CVPH for their compassion and care during his many visits.
