Walter E Mooney

Walter E. Mooney, 86, of West Chazy, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Beekmantown on October 13, 1935 the son of Harry and Stella (Hayes) Mooney.

Walter was a mason and mechanic by trade. He loved spending time with his family and friends, honky-tonk country music, shooting pool, going to casinos and playing bingo. He also cherished his annual summer vacations with his wife Jane to Montana to visit his sister Betty and family and dig crystals at their Smokey Quartz Crystal Mining Claim.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane (Hendrix) Mooney, his children; Alan Mooney (Kathleen Rushford), Cathy McCann, Penny Dumas (Andrew “Opie”), grandchildren; Dani Mooney, Morgan Bushey (Dustin), Chelsea Mooney, Michelle Rushford, great-granddaughter (and pride & joy) Bailee Bushey, sister; Dorothy Gorman (Russell Poole), sisters-in-law; Elizabeth Mooney & Sheila O’Banion and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, daughter; Dolores “Dodie” Mooney, siblings; Arnold, Thelma, Wallace, Harold, Lester, Ella, Charlie, Betty, Ross, Alice and Eunice.

Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church, 127 Beekman Street from 12:00-1:00 p.m. A Funeral service will follow in the Church. Burial will be at West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church.
