Walter Owen Stacey

Walter Owen Stacey, 81, of Davis Pond, Peru, NY, passed away on Thursday May 2, 2013 at Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. He was born in Montreal, PQ, Canada on April 16, 1032 the son of Joseph and Mable Eliza (Palmer) Stacey. He was a 100 percent disable Veteran from the Korean War. His Wartime military service included the Korean War and the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Fort Bragg North Carolina. Walter worked as a Plumber and Steam Fitter in Philadephia, PA with the Local #420. He was a member of the Masons and Shriners in Montreal, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Korean War Veterans, American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh and the V.F.W. Post 309 in Peru. Walter enjoyed reading and spending time at the Library. He was predeceased by parents, a son Walter Stacey, Jr., a brother Harvey Stacey and cousins Dorothy Nimchick. Walter is survived by loving wife of 22 years, Virgie Stacey of Peru, two sons; James Anthony of Kentucky and son Aidan Stacey of Peru, three daughters; Elizabeth Anthony of ?????, Kimberly Stacey of California and Judy McKay and her husband Brian of Idaho, a brother William Stacey of Florida, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Saratoga National Cemetery.
