Wayne E Carter

Wayne E. Carter, 64, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away on December 16th in Naples, FL. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 15, 1957, the son of Ellison Carter and Elizabeth Helvie (Provost).
His first career was as a New York State Corrections Officer and he retired as a lieutenant. He trained in karate for 20 years, becoming a 5th degree black belt. After retirement, he opened a lawn care business and became certified in turf treatments, becoming an expert in his love of grass. Wayne truly enjoyed taking care of the Veteran’s Memorial in Plattsburgh, making sure the grass was always green. He enjoyed hunting, working out, spending time with his family, playing with his grandkids, and cheering for the Red Sox.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Carter, of Plattsburgh, his children, Jessica Turchin and her husband Ryan, Ryan Sapel and his wife Kristina, and Daniel Carter and his wife Alissa, and his grandchildren, Rory and Everett Turchin, and Porter and Blair Sapel. He is also survived by his siblings, Sandra Curry and her husband Rick, Chris Campbell and her husband Greg, Kathleen LaConte-O’Neill and her husband Tim O’Neill, Bruce Carter, and Neil Carter as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be December 30th from 1:30pm-4pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 179, Clinton County VA Office, 137 Margret St, Suite 106, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
