Wayne Junior Wood

Wayne J. Wood, 56, of Gokey Road, passed away peacefully Monday, September 27, 2021 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 22, 1965, the son of Donald Wood Junior and Elizabeth (Dashnaw) Wood.
Wayne graduated from Saranac High School in 1984. Wayne worked as a corrections officer for many years and retired from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora. Prior to that, Wayne worked as a truck driver for Don Scammell Inc. He was a 37 year member of the Beaver Lodge Hunting Club.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobling, fourwheeling and working in the woods at camp. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always there to help and give of his time if family or friends needed anything done.
Wayne cherished his loving wife and daughter, parents, brothers, sister, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He was a caring, helpful, loving and all around great man. He enjoyed cracking jokes, and making people laugh. He always had sayings that stuck with everyone "Ain't no joke, it's all fun and games", "It ain't no reindeer games".
Survivors include his wife; Nancy Wood, daughter Kayla Wood and fiance Dennis Ducharme, his mother Elizabeth Wood, brothers; Doug and Randy Wood, Bruce and Larry Bodway, a sister; Brenda Wood, his nephews, nieces, in laws, aunts and uncles, and several great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Donald Wood, a son Matthew Wood, his father in law James Dupraw and mother in law Rose Marie Champagne.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be offered to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at themmrf.org
