Wendell F "Buddy" Decarlo

Wendell F. “Buddy” DeCarlo, 79, of Plattsburgh passed away, June 4, 2020 at the CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on October 8, 1940 the son of Frank and Rita (Hansbury) DeCarlo.
Buddy was a Golden Gloves Boxer from 1956 to 1962 and was a New England Champion. He fought with the Plattsburgh Boxing Club, coach by his father. Buddy married Maureen Tremblay in Chateauguay, Quebec on July 14, 1962. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a Plumber and Welder with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 773 in Glens Falls, NY for 39 years. He loved to watch his son Stephen’s baseball, basketball and football games at Beekmantown School, Post 20 Baseball and the Champlain Valley Baseball League. Buddy enjoyed being outside gardening and spending time with his dog Maggie. Most of all he loved so much and was so proud of his son Stephen. Buddy was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and never missed a game on TV. In his later years he had tremendous pride and joy in his grandson. He was so enamored with his success in school and the person he was becoming. Buddy was proud of his son Stephen for his career accomplishments as a teacher and the family man he became.
He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings; Helen, Marion and Nancy.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maureen, their son Stephen and his wife Julie of Unadilla, NY, a grandson Xander, his sister Francis Walker of Plattsburgh, several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
