William ‘Bill’ G. Buttery Jr., 87, of Johnson Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 23, 2024 at UVM Health Network, CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side after battled cancer for many years, that was developed from exposure to Agent Orange during his time served in Vietnam. He was born in Plattsburgh on May 13, 1937 the son of William George Buttery, Sr and Blanche Mary (Everleth) Buttery. Bill joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for over 20 years. After being honorably discharged at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, he returned as a civilian continuing to work for 19 years until the base closed in 1995. Bill then began working for the Advocacy and Resource Center in Plattsburgh until he fully retired. He was a parishioner at St. John's Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus where he volunteered regularly. Bill was an avid sports fan and loved the University of Notre Dame, Go Irish! Left to cherish the memory of William are, his five children, many grandchildren, and many great grandchildren who were his pride and joy and his two dogs Gracie and Sophie. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Elaine Buttery, their daughter, Terry Ellen, and his son-in-law Trooper Brian S. Falb. William’s family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff on R5 and R7 at CVPH and the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center. Services will be private and at the convenience of his family.
