William T Higgins

Plattsburgh William T. Higgins, 79, of Lake Forest Drive, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 21, 2014 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Peoria, IL on September 21, 1935 the son of William and Gladys Higgins, and grew up in Peru, NY with the Kinney Family, Theb, Mary and their children Chuck, Mary Kay, Nancy and Patsy. Bill attended Peru Central School, Ithaca College and the University of Vermont. He attended the Army Language School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill had a passion for sports, in particular baseball, and loved coaching Little League and traveling to Arizona for baseball spring training with his cousins John and Bill Brewster. He also enjoyed fishing, cribbage, playing pool and spending time on Lake Champlain and with his family. Bill was predeceased by his parents. Bill was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doo Higgins, their children: Suki Banaszak and her husband Val of San Jose, CA, Thomas Higgins and his wife Sue of Peru, NY, Charles Higgins of Hayward, CA, Michael Higgins and his wife Betty of Glens Falls, NY, Melina Higgins and her husband John Willinge of New York, NY, Theresa Witkiewicz and her husband Robert, Jr. of Morrisonville, NY and Brenda Cimo and her husband Ryan of Orchard Park, NY, their grandchildren: Cecilia McDaniel; Val Banaszak; Joseph, Michael, Abigail, Taylor, Marie, Brandon and Kristin Higgins; John and Katherine Willinge; Stephen, Taylor, Connor and Madeline Witkiewicz; and Alex and Audrey Cimo; and their two great grandchildren: Sophia and Olivia McDaniel. Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 23, 2014 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Inurnment will be held in a private family ceremony at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh on Friday.
