William J. “Bill” MacArthur, 89, of Truman Avenue, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH with family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on September 18, 1931, the son of the late John and Dorothy (Duquette) MacArthur.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was later employed at Georgia Pacific for many years and later for Burns Security. He was a member of American Legion Post 20 and St. Peter’s Church. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife over 42 years, Sheila (Donah) MacArthur, his children and their spouses; Kevin and Tara Duprey, Bill Duprey, 5 grandchildren; Alex, Taylor, Deanna, Tessa, and Lucas, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be offered to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
