William H. 'Bill" Seymour

March 9, 1947 — April 23, 2024

William H. "Bill" Seymour, of Plattsburgh, born March 9, 1947, embarked on his final journey from Ft Walton Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the age of 77, surrounded by the warmth of loving memories and a legacy of enduring impact. Raised by his late parents, Raymond and Margaret Seymour, Bill's early years were defined by his invaluable experiences at the family-owned store alongside his siblings. It was here that he learned the virtues of hard work, selflessness, and unwavering family values—principles that he carried throughout his life. After graduating from Plattsburgh High School in 1966, Bill displayed his patriotism by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in Vietnam as a radio operator until his honorable discharge in 1968. Upon returning home, he joined Georgia-Pacific as a pipe-fitter, dedicating 32 years of skill and diligence until his retirement. Bill found his life companion in Theresa, and together they built a life of love after marrying on September 18, 1976. Bill lovingly embraced his role as a father to Theresa's children, David and Denise, selflessly caring for the family over their 42 years together until Theresa's passing in 2018. Bill's adventures with his family fueled his impressive collection of hats from around the world. He appreciated a good joke and easy going when joke was on him; but watch out as he was always quick with a sharp retort, even in his final days. A smile from Bill was so contagious that it would immediately be shared by everyone around him. Underneath his practical exterior, Bill carried a profound affection and unyielding support for his loved ones. He was affectionately known as “Pops” or “Papa” by Denise's children—Seth, Abigail, and Anna—whom he influenced greatly, providing comfort and guidance through life's challenges. His grandson Dylan cherished the clever exchanges and heartfelt support from "Grandpa Bill." Bill enjoyed his large, extended family, relishing the joy of holidays and celebrations of life's milestones. Retirement brought new adventures with Theresa in their beloved RV, and later, his warmth and kindness enriched the lives of many children during his time as a bus driver. Predeceased by his loving wife Theresa and his brothers George and Joe, Bill leaves behind a cherished circle, including his brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Joana Seymour; sister and brother-in-law, Robert and Louis Lajoy; his children David and Tammy Case, and Denise Dufresne; and his adored grandchildren Seth, Dylan, Abigail, and Anna, alongside numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. His legacy will soon be carried on by his great-granddaughter, Ozzy Willameen Case. Bill's life was a testament to love, service, and the simple joy of being together. He will be profoundly missed. To those he leaves behind, his message would surely be, "I love you, be careful!" A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 17th 10:30am-11:30am with a prayer held at 11:30am at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901. Inurnment will follow in St. Peters Columbarium with military honors. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Bill’s life and legacy will follow at the Butcher Block, 15 Booth Dr, Plattsburgh, NY 12901 starting at 12:30. Please stop by to share your memories of Bill. Arrangements are under the care of Brown Funeral Home. May Bill's journey onward be as filled with peace as the life he lived was with love.
