Yolanda N. Kirby, 83, of Miner Farm Road, Chazy passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Meadowbrook Healthcare with family by her side. She was born in Watertown, NY on November 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Merrill and Olive (Simons) Curtis.
Yolanda was a Dental Hygiene Teacher for the Carthage School District for a number of years until she decided to stay home with her children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister, lector and taught Catholic Catechism to Chazy students for decades. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, tending the antique shop she ran with her husband, admiring the beauty of nature and spending time with her children, grandchildren and pets.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lawrence Kirby, her daughter Ann Kirby and her husband Craig Blagoue, her grandchildren, Elizabeth and David Kirby and her great grandson Waylon Kirby.
She was predeceased by her son Lawrence Ripley Kirby.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh.
