George A. Poust, 77, of Pine Ridge Drive, Morrisonville, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, after a long, courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer. He was born in Bloomsburg, PA on September 20, 1943, the son of William and Alberta (DeMott) Poust.
George grew up in PA. In his younger years, George devoted himself to his family’s farm. Even after he moved to NY, he loved to return to his “old stomping grounds” to hunt and visit family. He always cherished his time spent at the annual Poust family reunion.
George proudly served in the USAF 1962-1970 as a heavy equipment operator and construction worker.
He used his CDL as he worked at Plattsburgh Quarry and as civilian employee for both the USAF and later, PARC.
George was active in his town. He loved to coach his children when they played baseball and softball. His greatest interest was supporting his grandchildren’s sporting events. George dedicated 45 years of service to the Morrisonville Fire Department. While in the fire department, he bowled & played in the horseshoe leagues. George loved to hunt. He truly appreciated nature and all wildlife. He had an incredible green thumb and generously shared the many vegetables grown in his garden. Each of his grandchildren have fond memories of picking their own prized pumpkin from “PopPop’s Pumpkin Patch”. George was an avid card player. His favorites were Pitch, Hearts, and Pinochle with Fr. Scott. He also enjoyed calling and playing Bingo both in person and virtually.
He was predeceased by parents and brother, James Poust
