Patricia Ann Shea

Patricia A. Shea PERU -- Patricia Ann (Hastings) Shea, 71, of John Boswell Road, Peru, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014. She was born on March 2, 1943, the daughter of Charles E. Hastings and Madeline V. (Olds) Hastings, in Warrensburg, N.Y., where she was raised. She attended local schools. In 1965 she graduated with a teaching degree from Plattsburgh State; she was a teacher at various schools in upstate New York, most notably at St. Augustine's School in Peru, where she taught 5th grade for 25 years, retiring in 2005. She was a communicant at both St. Patrick's Church and St. Augustine's. In 1970, she married Robert A. Shea in Plattsburgh. Survivors include her husband; her children, Kimberly Seymour of Peru, Robert A. Shea Jr. of Peru, and Megan Shea and her companion, Alan McKay, of Albany; three grandchildren, Jared Seymour and his companion, Amanda Goodfellow, of Saranac, Matthew Seymour and his companion, Renée Egan, of Latham, and Emma Patricia McKay of Albany; a great-grand-daughter, Avery Elizabeth Seymour of Saranac; three sisters, Marilyn Becker of Chalfont, Pa., Norma Galusha and her husband, Jim, of Athol, and Karen Deuel and her husband, John, of Hadley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Charles "Chuck" Hastings. She loved Elvis, NASCAR driver Carl Edwards and "Days of Our Lives," but the great joy in her life came from spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, and she recently welcomed her first great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Augustine's Church or American Diabetes Association. Calling hours will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the St. Augustine's Church in Peru. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
